5 FRUITS FOR HEALTHY/GLOWING SKIN

Summer is finally on its way.

The clocks have gone forward and the evenings are getting lighter. With that in mind it is time we started looking at our skin.
We all know that we should eat 5 portions of fruit and veg a day, but do we? I try to, but it doesn't always happen. However, the vitamins in the fruit and veg we eat can impact on our skin giving it a healthy/glowing look.

Here are 5 fruits that will help you achieve healthy/glowing skin :-

Bananas - rich in Vitamins A, B and E these help act as an anti-ageing agent.

Lemons - high in Vitamin C, they have natural bleaching properties. Lemon is a good cleanser that can help lighten blemishes, acne scars, spots and skin tone.

Oranges - again, rich in Vitamin C and helps to improve the skins texture. It can help remove blemishes and naturally slows the ageing process.

Apples - these have a high antioxidant action which helps prevent cell and tissue damage. This also works as an anti-ageing agent minimising wrinkles and fine lines.

Papaya - rich in antioxidants and can help banish skin impurities. It can also remove dead skin cells when used directly on the skin.

Simple Pimple Treatment.

Hello again,

What do you do when you wake up and a pimple has appeared over night-right on your nose or forehead? And yes-you have a party, interview or special occasion to go to!

We have all been there!

Here is a simple solution:

An easy lemon and honey mask that can be made at home:

Squeeze 1 spoonful of lemon juice and the same amount of honey into a clean bowl. Mix well to form a paste. Apply over the face and neck, to cleansed skin, using a cotton pad, not cotton wool. Leave for 15 mins and then rinse with cold water. (source- Style craze)

The lemon contains citric acid which helps neutralize and contain the oil secretions of oily skin. Honey has antibacterial properties and can restore moisture balance in the skin.

Hopefully you will notice a reduction in the pimple size and will have a glow to your skin.

Try it out and see if it helps.

Do you have any other home remedies that you can share with us?

I would love to hear them-leave me a comment here, on facebook, twitter or by email. We all need quick solutions and can help each other stay fit and healthy with gorgeous looking skin!

What is in your Skin Care products?

The weekend is nearly here and I am hoping you get some time to yourself, the time I like to call:

'Mytime'

During this time take a look at your skin care products and see what is actually in them.

Here is a list of some of the ingredients that go into many of the leading brands:

  • Methylisothiazolinone – a harsh preservative that has been linked to allergic reactions and skin irritations. This chemical was the topic of Watchdog in 2013
  • Paraffin – used in moisturisers as well as cosmetics. This product is derived from either coal or petroleum
  • Petrolatum – a cheap ingredient produced from petroleum. This can result in the skin becoming sun sensitive. It can also interfere with the body's own natural moisturising system as it will sit on the skins surface.
  • Propylenglycol – this is the most common moisture-carrying vehicle (other than water) found in cosmetics. Derived from petroleum it can cause irritation in some people, not all! It is also an ingredient found in antifreeze!
Do these sound like products you want to be putting on your skin?

I certainly don't!

I would prefer to treat my skin with care and use natural and organic products. Products that help me to feel and look good.

At Mytime all our products are natural and organic. They only contain plant and fruit extracts and are paraben and sulphite free.

Check out our website here and you will see a wide range of products that I think you would prefer to include in your 'Mytime!'

Any questions just leave me a comment below and have a fun weekend x

Warning Winter Soup

A very Happy Friday to you all,

How is the healthy New Year kick start going?

I am pleased to say I am still keeping up with all the little tips we talked about a few weeks ago. If you missed these take a look here.

I have also been making some healthy and nutritious soups to help keep me on track

Today I have one to share with you that I have made a few times over the last few weeks.

Here is what you need to get started:

1 butternut squash
2 sweet potatoes
4 carrots
1 red pepper

And this is what you do:
  • Peel and chop all veg
  • Roast in the oven at 200 degrees until soft
  • Allow to cool slightly and then blend the ingredients
  • Add pepper, ginger and chilli to taste
  • You may need to add some vegetable stock so the soup is to your liking
  • You can eat this straight away or store in an air tight container in the fridge or freeze in in soup bags until needed.
  • Serve with a teaspoon of crème fraiche and a wholemeal pitta bread.
So why is the good for you?

This soup is full of Beta carotene which is an antioxidant found in fruit and veg that helps to even out the skin tone and improve the skin texture plus protect the skin from the damaging effects of the sun.

Seems a good enough reason to get cooking to me and on top of all this it really does taste fabulous.

Have a fun weekend and get cooking!

It's not too late to kick start the New Year!

Hello All,

At last the weekend is nearly here!

Did you have a happy and healthy January? If you are anything like me you started the New Year full of the best intentions. As January set in those intentions kept being put to the bottom of my list.

However it is not too late for us to face February with vigour and kick start the New Year all over again!

Are you still feel sluggish?

Is your skin looking tired and dull?

I am here to give you a few little tips to help us all get started on that much needed 'Kick Start'

  • Replace your morning cup of tea or coffee with hot water and a squeeze of fresh lemon. Plus try to drink 8 glasses of water through out the day. Both of these will help you keep hydrated and flush away any toxins in your body.
  • Try to eat a rainbow a day-not literally! But a good way to optimise you diet is to go for colour, lots of colour! Eat brightly coloured fruit and veg to gain more nutrients.
  • Try to exercise at least twice a week. I know it is hard! But start with climbing those stairs and avoid the lift!

These tips will help you feel good inside and out!

As we all know sometimes we may need that little bit of extra help and I can recommend giving your skin a real New Year boost.

How??

Try our Decadence Skin products-especially the moisturiser and serum that are designed to brighten and even out skin tone.
